America's Byways® Press Room
May 10, 2001 - New and Improved NSBO Website
As of May 10, 2001, National Scenic Byways Online has a new look. Visitors to the site will still find the same links and information, but with a more visually organized look. One of the most notable changes to the site is the inclusion of byway photos on the main pages. These photos will allow users a quick look at what a byway has to offer before they browse for more information. And the photos are just the beginning of a better look.
Visitors to the site will still be able to browse the site according to a specific state or byway, but the links that will take them there are cleaner and bolder from the main page and throughout the rest of the site. A few of the links from the old main page have been left out to make browsing more simplified. Most visitors will navigate the site using the “For the Traveler” link which will allow them to view the featured byway and browse the rest of the site. The Media link is also still included as well as the link for the Byway Community.
The Byway Community will also appreciate the changes that have appeared under the Community section of the website. Users will be able to keep track of important events with the new Calendar. The “Contacts and Communication” section of the site now hosts a people/organization search which allows you to search for contact information about a person by name. Other features for the byway community include the news items that can be posted for byway news and events. These items appear under the Byways Times which is now located on the main page of the site.
When browsing an actual byway, visitors will encounter a picture and summary of the byway. The rest of the information has been divided and placed in sections that will make it easier for visitors to the page to find the information that they want. These new sections include: Quick Facts, The Byway Story, Visitor Services, Travel Information, and Other Information. Not only does the organization allow visitors to find information, but it creates a cleaner layout for each byway.
So pick a byway and browse through it in the new NSBO Website. The change is more than just a new look, it is a new way to travel the National Scenic Byways. You may find some stories and pictures you haven’t noticed before.
