November 6, 2006 - Geo-Tour Now Available for I-90 Across Western Washington

The Mountains to Sound Greenway has posted a downloadable PDF tour guide to I-90 from Seattle to North Bend, Washington (so far). The tour is being released in stages, and future sections will continue on to the Columbia River at Vantage. Called a “Geo-Tour,” it emphasizes the geology behind the scenery drivers can see from the road. It also points out how human impact on the land was influenced by the landscape.

The tour includes a scenic detour of the old Sunset Highway that went through this area before I-90 was built. Much of the Sunset Highway remains, waiting for travelers with an extra hour or two to rediscover it.
