This is one of the coolest byways I have been on. It's not only beautiful but there is so much interesting history there. We traveled the entire length on a motorcycle (actually started from Delaware). When we stopped at different areas, you could actually walk down or see the original paths that were walked.

This is one of the most beautiful places in the world that you can drive to. Last summer we camped for five days at one of the gorgeous National Forest campgrounds south of Red Lodge and drove up the switchbacks nearly every day to hike and hang out above treeline. Gorgeous!
